The room was a little small for three, but larger than average Japanese hotel rooms. They have gorgeous Japanese breakfast, but they have limited quantities of those. Other order options are good as well, but the buffet is very dull.

Great location (3 minutes walk from Central Train Station).
Room is small (Japanese standard), but still slightly bigger than Tokyo's hotel rooms, spotless clean
Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was good and diverse enough.
And the "onsen" (spa) is such a great relaxation time after a hard day of walk/tourism.

This hotel was gorgeous. The breakfast was amazing - with great choices and service. i ate steak and eggs every morning! When you check in and every morning after - you select a time you will arrive and when that time is gone they are full - so it never felt super crowded.
I loved the public bath - which had a code for the women's bath to be extra safe. I also used the onsite laundry machines which were super helpful but difficult to get into as they were popular. I recommend doing midday when people are sight seeing or after midnight.

Kyoto is a place for lazy travellers as the city is relatively small and the train and bus are very easy to locate. There are also many places to see and using Kyoto as a centre to travel to surrounding area is also very convenient. We also spent time in Osaka but the Osaka station is too complicated and large, it is not easy to find direction. On the contrary, Kyoto is very easy to manage and the Kyoto Station has all the things that we need, food, supermarket and many different grades of hotels to choose from.

Kyoto is a beautiful and quaint town. Plenty to see & do. We stayed for 5 nights plus 1 night and did not cover it all. Leaving with a heavy heart, with a resolve to go back again.
The General Hotel Kyoto is very well located for interesting izakayas, bars, ramin places & nicer restaurants. It's close to the main street for higher-end shopping too.

I really enjoyed my stay at Webase Kyoto.
I really enjoyed my stay at Webase Kyoto. What really makes this place special is the staff. They are super friendly and really want to help you get what ever answers your help you need. They repeatedly went above and beyond. Even if they had to us a translator app to assist inthe communication. The room was small but clean and the facility very clean an comfortable. Added bonus to get a free snack in the morning and ramen at night. Thanks for a great stay!

So many beautiful locations, the only problem was too many dumb tourists! But I was there in Blossom season, so it's to be expected.
If you can, visit a major temple by 8am, it makes a big difference to be there before the worst crowds. Then after a break, you can go to a park, shopping or one of the less famous temples etc in the afternoon. Nijo-jo Castle absolutely stunning. Also smaller places, like Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design. Exquisite! And hardly any others there.
Wear good pairs of socks, for locations when shoes must be removed.

As a person who spent part of her childhood in another part...
As a person who spent part of her childhood in another part of Japan, and has spent a lifetime travelling the world; I can say with all honesty that Kyoto is my favourite city in the world! I put it before Istanbul, Paris, London, Hong Kong, etc.
Kyoto is a perfect blend of rich traditions and modern playfulness. It is a city for everyone, young and old. I love to run along the Kamo River which cuts through the centre of the city. They have a building ordinance so buildings aren’t too high; the surrounding hills are ever present. It is also a very walkable city! Yet the bus system is easy to adapt to with Google being very accurate where and how to catch a bus, even advising cost. Kyoto is also a foody’s heaven, so much to choose from. I return to Kyoto over and over again because I can never get enough of it. But this trip found me spending 5 weeks trying to live like a local and I never tired of it. I look forward to returning again and again.
Staffs were friendly and check-in instructions were clear, do note that if you are checking-in before the check-in time, luggages needs to be stored in the guest centre near kyoto station instead. But there's a free luggage delivery service to the hotel from the guest centre. Rooms were spotless clean and comfortable. Good size as well. It's super convenient to have a washer, dryer in the toilet is just the best thing. All clothes gets dried in a matter of hours. There are also several 24 hours convenience stores around as well.
It was better than we expected. The room was large enough for two people, comfortable beds. I really liked the way from the entrance to the main door - you have the red carpet every day =) Special thanks to the staff, very nice people.
Hot bath (onsen) will help you after long walks, it was one of the best things in this hotel. And the location! Just 10 min walk from the Central Station. To get the center of the city you can use buses or make 25 minutes walk.
Strongly recommended.
I loved how everything was always kept clean. They also provide free rental pajamas and towels, as well as the basic toiletries. The room was really cozy. I didn’t have that huge of a luggage with me so the space was just right for me. I also am happy that it’s right beside Gojo Station entrance, a McDonalds, and quite a few good restaurants as well! Kyoto Station was also just 15 minutes away.
I’d say, for the price, they’re among the best value for money hotel in Kyoto!
Very good surprise with the séquence Hotel.
It is a moderne boutique-hotel, with quite spacious rooms, very clean and new onsen and sauna (not too crowded) and great location close to the station and in walking distance from multiple temples. 15-30 min wal from Gion area.
The personnel was very helpful and the restaurant (we only had diner once) serving wagyu burgers good quality.
Actually it was the best 4star value for money hotel for our trip in Japan.
One of the best and most family friendly hotel we have stayed in. The hotel is very spacious for a 4-member family and equipped with a small kitchen. Their guest room had complimentary coffee/tea. The location is quiet, and relatively accessible to most tourist spots in Kyoto.
There are English speaking receptionists and all staff are friendly, helpful and kind.
We had an excellent 2-night stay. I highly recommend this hotel for families or groups.
The hotel is relatively small and quiet, very clean, new and pleasant ambiance. Bed was comfortable. Location was perfect; next to metro station, within walking distance from some tourist objectives, as well as restaurants. Has a coffee & tea station station at reception. Also provides all basic needs (slippers, PJ, tea, water, etc.) in the room. Stuff is polite & helpful. Best price for the value (I stayed in 6 hotels during 3 weeks Japan trip).
The room is huge! The subway station is a very short walking distance, so convenient, lots of supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Having a kitchen in the room made things so much easier and the room even has a smart tv, so we got to stream our favourite shows when we just wanted to wind down from a long day outside. The staff are so nice and helpful, this is by far the best out of the 5 hotels I have stayed in while in Japan.
Loved the customer service! Location was perfect for us: at walking distance from train station (15min), from city center (20min), from old town (30min). There is also underground stops at just 5 and 10min walk from the hotel. Although the best thing was the breakfast! It wasn't extensive but this made it easy and quick to grab and was actually very complete, with great quality food
This location was brilliant. Directly above the Kyoto Station. This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff were second to none. On arrival we had issues with our SIM and the concierge was so helpful. She made many phone calls and was able to fix our problem.
The bed was so comfortable. The buffet breakfast was extensive. We will definitely return!!
Great place to stay. A short taxi ride from the train station with our bags but after that very easy to get around from the hotel. The best and biggest room that we had in Japan. We booked a kingsize room.
The most fabulous rain shower.
Didn’t have breakfast there but there were some great places nearby for breakfast.
Perfectly located in the heart and soul of Kyoto, Gion is one of the city's best-preserved historic areas and a great place for experiencing traditional Kyoto. The staff at Gion Ryokan Q-Beh is freindly. The place is clean, light cooking at the kitchen is allowed, coin operated laundry is also available at the hotel.
Location was in a central area in Kyoto, walking distance from Gion, a key district for tourism and souvenir shopping in Kyoto. We also discovered one of the best local artisan markets we found in our Japan tour just 5 minutes walk from the hotel, with the best quality art, clothing and Japanese items.
The best parts of this hotel - the view and the shower. Seriously, the location couldn't be better right in the Gion district. I'm glad I paid the extra lil better to have a superior room with a view. And the shower was huge; I'm going to miss it! Apart from that, the room was lovely and big.
Great value for money. One of the best 4-star hotels we've ever stayed. Excellent services, very clean, polite staff, nice facilities. Good location next to the train station. In total a very comfortable experience in the beautiful city of Kyoto.
Walking distance from JR Kyoto station, room was spacious and clean, staff was friendly and assisted with my luggage delivery from Kyoto to Tokyo. Definitely one of the best I stayed in Kyoto, would be go to hotel whenever I’m back! 💯
Location. View from rooms. Spacious rooms. Very comfortable. Great service and staff. The location is the best. Right at the train station, close to restaurants and shopping malls. Temples, etc. Excellent hotel
