I stayed twice at this hotel, particularly so both times I could leave my luggage there during side trips, very useful.
Position is excellent between night market at end of street and the river and ferry docks but off a quiet laneway and set back in lovely garden without the traffic noise, also with private leafy sitting areas outside each room. Next to large Wat so chanting can be heard in the afternoon, also drums and gongs early morning if that's a problem, but I found it pleasant.
Rooms are huge with fridge and very large shower and bed. Lovely dark wood in Laos style and very clean. Reception booked my bus and slow boat tickets and assisted with transfers, even made my breakfast early before a very early start on one occasion.
Greatly appreciated!
Colourful local market right outside the entrance, noisy in the morning but fascinating and a great chance to stock up on fruit and snacks for a trip.
Since no transport can use the lane in the morning Negotiating a path through the very crowded market with large luggage for the inevitable early morning departures can be difficult and extra time is needed, though staff and drivers were always helpful.
Nice freshly prepared breakfast options are taken in the garden but it can get quite hot once the sun comes up.
Just a 5-minute walk from Luang Prabang's city center and night market, Villa Oasis offers rooms with free WiFi, built around a pond and gardens. It also features a library and a 24-hour front desk.

I was working remotely while in Luang Prabang so six days was good as my time to explore was limited. If I had unlimited free time, I’d say that 3-4 days would be sufficient.
Luang Prabang feels unspoiled and charming, very laid-back. The night market sells touristy goods but it was fun and there is no hard sell taking place.
There is a great choice of restaurants to cater for all tastes.

We visiting the KuangSi Waterfall and had more fun than expected. Climbed to the top, did the ziplines, enjoyed some drinks at the treehouse to cool off and then swam in the chilly waterfall pools for a really refreshing dip. Loved the drive through the countryside and ate lunch at the Bamboo Farm. Bamboo tea was delicious. Stopped by the Buffalo Dairy for some cheese and ice cream, but not sure if I would do that part again, since it was nothing unusual. Visited the Hmong Village and really enjoyed that interaction. Definitely make that stop to get an up close, personal look at the Hmong life. Next time, we will visit the Ou Caves and take the train to other cities, as well. Plan enough time to see Laos!

Luang Prabang was a hidden gem!
Luang Prabang was a hidden gem! The locals were all so welcoming and let us join in at their favorite restaurants and bars. Nothing beats sitting on the Mekong with a BeerLao or taking a cruise at sunset down the river. We could have spent so much more time here. Though there wasn't the street coffee we love in Thailand, the street smoothies were delicious!! We did do the waterfalls one day but wished we skipped - it was so manufactured. Sure it was busy but what bothered us was how built out everything was, really making edits to the natural beauty. Also, the bears there do not have much room and are surrounded by people all day which I found sad. But, Luang Prabang itself is amazing. Go, eat, drink, & hang with the locals. Such kind and welcoming people!

Love the day tour proposed by the hotel. I could have also done. City tour with guide to better grasp all the charming parts of this historic city. I would definitely recommend a city tour and the day tour to the falls, Hmong village , cave and sunset river cruise.

If you enjoy a slower pace destination then Luang Prabang is for you - I did 2 days but I believe 3 at least would've been optimal. If you need more excitement Vang Vieng is the better option. I ate at the Mora restaurant (it's great) both nights instead of going for street food stall that are uninteresting. Having coffee and a drink at the main road is pretty relaxing. YMMV with regards to the sightseeing stuff. I won't say anything is a must-do. It's a vibe town.

Excellent service from the first moment, warm welcome with detailed explanation of all options we have in the town (map included). The room was super clean and stylish (matched with the French colonial style of Luang Prabang) wooden beds and furniture, everything looked new or very well preserved. The manager, speaking very good English, helped us with booking motorbikes, and rearrange our further journey. There is also a very nice restaurant just in front of the hotel.
The excellent hotel in Luang Prabang, with the Mekong river in front. The room is lage, comfortable with a private balcony. The staff was very helpful, They provided us with a welcome drink and gave us a map, showed us the most interesting places to visit in Luang Prabang, They booked us a full day tour to the waterfall - cave and sunset cruise, it was a perfect tour. We will be back soon.
I would give Fides Boutique Hotel more than 5 stars if possible! The hotel is beautifully renovated, the rooms/beds are very comfortable, breakfast is delicious (pictures included) and the wifi is great. It's centrally located, easy to walk to the main parts of town or grab a tuk tuk. And the staff are wonderfully kind & helpful! Definitely recommend!
This was such a wonderfully unexpected gem of a hotel - great atmosphere, excellently decorated room and exceptional service - all in one of the best locations in Luang Prabang.
