In Hungary, we visited the capital city of Budapest – which both differed from and exceeded our expectations. As part of the former Communist bloc, we were ready for a city strapped in brutalist architecture and void of Western commercialism, but we quickly learned otherwise. Budapest is ornately designed and historically preserved. We've spent nearly 2 months in Budapest over the years, sightseeing the top attractions, visiting the urban parks, partying in the ruins pubs, learning some history and even attending the opera!
