Germany has always been a place that we have passed through and it wasn’t until 2017 that we finally spent some real time in the country. Even when we were just passing through, we always tried to make the most of our layovers. Which is exactly what we did when we had to connect through Munich on our way from the United States to Slovenia. We stayed in the heart of the city for 24 fabulous hours of sightseeing and Bavarian beer drinking.

In the winter of 2017, however, we made room in our travel schedule for a weeklong stay in Berlin and a 3-week housesit in Dresden. Even though the skies were gloomy and the air frigid during our time in Brrrrr-lin, we were eager to see as much of the city as possible – and we packed our Berlin sightseeing to the brim. We could sightsee more leisurely in Dresden (which is highly underrated, in our opinion) – and were even able to visit three of the nearby castles. Up next we visited Freiburg on a day-trip from Basel, Switzerland and enjoyed our first look at the Black Forest. We have since returned to Germany to celebrate at the amazing Christmas Markets in Frankfurt and Dusseldorf and on our European River Cruise. Prost!
